Blues Association of Austin

The Blues Association of Austin

The Blues Association of Austin is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting Blues Dancing through dances, workshops, and classes in the Austin area.

We were founded in 2007 to manage the Austin Blues Party an annual blues workshop weekend. Since then, we have grown and expanded and now run a weekly dance, Kick Butt Blues in association with Kick Butt Coffee. Over the next year we will be sponsoring additional workshops. Stay tuned!

New Year's Blue Ball

On New Year's Eve 2009, come on out and dance until 2:00am with Leeann Atherton and her band, and The Little Elmore Reed Blues Band. We'll have snacks to keep your energy up and a cash bar to keep the night flowing along. And all of this will be at the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs at 2312 San Gabriel, Austin, TX.

Kick Butt Blues

Kick Butt Blues is a regularly scheduled Friday night blues dance run in association with Kick Butt Coffee. Music, drinks, and an awesome location — the only thing that could make KBB more kick butt is YOU!

Austin Blues Party

Austin Blues Party is our annual all-weekend workshop featuring fantastic instructors, DJs, and dancing. ABP is generally held July 4th weekend.

Workshops

In addition to Austin Blues Party and in conjuction with and other Austin dance teachers, BAA sponsors additional workshops throughout the year.

Campbell & Chris provide workshops aimed to get beginners up to a level where they can social dance comfortably and to add a little spark and flair to the more established dancers. Their teaching style is fun and energetic, and they encourage connection both to your partner and to the music. Look for them around town as they spread their love of blues.

Weekly Classes

Both Four On The Floor and GoDance regularly have weekly blues classes. Please check their websites for the latest information.
